    Assam: 1 more arrested in ‘Pre-matric Minority Scholarship case’

    The CID and local police conducted a search at locations in the Nagarbera area in the intervening nights of Thursday and Friday.

    Assam: 1 more arrested in ‘Pre-matric Minority Scholarship case’

    Guwahati: In a recent development, a team of Criminal Investigation Department and local Police arrested one accused in connection with the embezzlement of pre-matric scholarship funds on Friday.

    The accused identified as Nozirul Islam (24) was arrested from Nagarbera area in Nagaon, Assam.

    Islam’s involvement was established, during investigation in misappropriation of scholarships amount meant for students belonging to minority community.

    The accused was produced before the court on Saturday and has been sent to police remand for two days.

    The CID and local police conducted a search at locations in the Nagarbera area in the intervening nights of Thursday and Friday.

    In connection with the case, the officials have arrested 36 accused from several parts of Assam.
