Guwahati: In a time when the entire nation is waiting of the COVID-19 vaccines, an unfortunate incident occurred in Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Cachar, Silchar, where 1000 vaccines have been damaged.
Reportedly, the vaccines were destroyed by the ice accumulation in the preserved state. They were kept below 14 degree Celsius for which it has been turned to ice.
Following the incident, 100 more COVID-19 vaccines have been provided by the health department to the medical college.
However, the department had summoned Dr PK Rai, who was in charge of the vaccines and also ordered to take the damaged vaccine to Guwahati.
Earlier, on Saturday, the Silchar Medical have immunised 100 beneficiaries with the vaccines.
