GUWAHATI: Almost all the cabinet ministers appointed so far in the state were crorepatis. A report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) on Thursday said that 12 out of 14 cabinet ministers appointed so far were crorepatis.
The report prepared based on the self-declaration affidavits by the ministers said that the average asset of 14 ministers analysed is Rs 4.78 crores.
It said that chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has the highest declared total assets worth Rs. 17.27 crores.
Newly appointed Guwahati Development minister of Assam, Ashok Singhal, came second with a declared total assets worth around Rs. 17.06 crores.
The report added that Pijush Hazarika, the state’s new Water Resources minister in Sarma-led-Cabinet was the third richest minister with assets worth around Rs. 6 crores.
The minister with the lowest declared total assets was Sanjoy Kishan, Welfare of Tea Tribes, Labour & Employment minister, with assets worth Rs. 55.35 lakhs.
Except Kishan, the only non crorepati minister was Urkhao Gwra Brahma, state’s new Handloom and Textile minister, who has declared of having a total assets around Rs 77 lakhs.
