Guwahati: In a recent development, a FIR was lodged complaining misappropriation of Pre-Matric Scholarship fund for minority students for the year 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 in Criminal Investigation Department.
Based on the FIR, a case was registered in CID PS on August 28, 2020. The FIR was lodged by Mahmood Hassan, Director of Assam Minority Development Board.
The CID with the support of local police has apprehended 21 accused in connection with the case.
Out of the 21 accused, 4 are headmasters of Schools, 1 teacher, 3 CS owners, 1 president of School Management Committee, 2 Electronic Data Processor and 10 middlemen.
Last night, the CID conducted a search operation in the house of one of the accused where 3 laptops, 217 students’ photographs, 104 bona-fide student’s certificates, 173 pre-matric scholarship application forms and 11 bank passbooks were recovered.
The case is under investigation.
Pre-matric Scholarship fund for minority community is a Central sector Scheme sponsored/implemented by the ministry of minority affairs, government of India, for students who secure 50% marks in the previous examination and whose parents/guardian’ annual income does not exceed Rs 1 lakh are eligible to apply.
