Assam: 23-year-old Army jawan goes missing in Delhi

Guwahati: A 22-year-old army personnel from Assam gone missing from the national capital Delhi while travelling to Jammu and Kashmir.

The missing army jawan was identified as Bitupan Mech, a resident of Tinsukia’s Phillobari village.

It has come to light that Bitupan has been missing since February 22.

According to sources, Bitupan was travelling from Assam to Jammu and Kashmir for a posting when he went missing.

He talked to his mother and wife through video call before departing for Jammu and Kashmir while his flight awaited takeoff from Dibrugarh airport in Assam, sources said.

Bitupan had returned to his hometown in January after his father had reportedly met with an accident. However, his father Padmeswar Mech passed away while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, his family member lodged a complaint at Phillobari Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
