Assam: 26 cattle rescued in Sonitpur, one held

Guwahati: A truck carrying smuggled cattle was seized in Balipara, Assam’s Sonitpur district by the Chariduar Police on Friday.

The vehicle carrying 26 cows was stopped at Balipara and the driver was arrested after he failed to present any documents during the preliminary investigation.

The driver identified as Prabin Das of Telengonia.

While interrogating Das, it was revealed that the smuggled cattle were being transported via Tezpur from Ghilamora in the Lakhimpur district to Nagaon.

At Balipara, we intercepted a truck and seized 26 cows from it. The truck driver was taken into custody. From Ghilamora to Nagaon, the cows were transported, official stated.

The case is currently being investigated further.
