Assam: 3 killed as speeding car mows down in Dibrugarh

Guwahati: A shocking road accident has been reported from Dibrugarh, three people were killed by a speeding vehicle at Jaipur Natun Ali road on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Vikram Mahali, Lakhi Patar and Nirmal Das, all residents of Lahowal.

The three victims were daily wage labourers and were waiting near the roadside, when a speeding car mowed them down, said sources.

Following the accident, Nirmal Das died on the spot while two of them were taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) where they died during treatment.

However, the angry crowd thrashed the car’s driver and afterwards handed over to the police.

As per official, “The driver was inebriated and was travelling to Duliajan, due to high speed he could not control his vehicle and hit three labourers who were waiting on the roadside.”  

One person died on the spot and the other two of them died at AMCH, official added.
