Guwahati: At least five Bangladeshi immigrants were detained from two different areas near the Assam-Tripura border, officials said.
According to sources, two Bangladeshi immigrants were detained at Silchar railway station, while the other three were held at the Churaibari check-post near the Assam-Tripura border on Thursday.
They are all residents of Bangladesh and they came to Silchar on a train from Guwahati on Wednesday, official said.
The accused were caught when they tried to attempted to go back to their country as they failed to get desired jobs, said the official. The accused entered India illegally a few months ago in search of work, officials added.
However, they were recognised by the police because to their unusual body language, officials stated.
The detained people have been identified as Fardin Islam, Shag Miya, Ashraful Islam, Khokan Fakir, and Mizanur Rahman.
