    Assam: 5 killed, several injured in two separate accidents

    At least five people were killed and several left injured in two separate accidents that took place in Cachar and Kaziranga in Assam.

    Guwahati: At least five people were killed and several left injured in two separate accidents that took place in Cachar and Kaziranga in Assam on Friday.

    In Cachar’s Salchapra, two passengers were killed while 13 other have been injured. Reportedly, the incident took place at Silchar-Guwahati highway when a traveler collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw.

    Two passengers of the auto-rickshaw were killed on spot while, 13 other passengers from both the vehicles were critically injured.

    The one deceased has been identified as Ashit Das and the other, who is known to be a female, is yet to be identified. All the injured passengers were rushed to the Silchar hospital for treatment by the local residents.

    Meanwhile, police reached the site and started an investigation into the matter.

    In another incident, three people were killed in a road mishap in Haldhibari near Kaziranga. The accident took place when a four-wheeler skidded from the road and collided with a stump.

    The three passengers who died on spot were identified as Biren Singha from Kabi Anglong, Konkoshen Das from Nalbari and Fulen Barman.
