Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has staged a protest on Friday at Dighalipukhuri against the ‘failure’ of the government to control the hike in prices of essential commodities.

The student organization has observed the ‘Bikhov’ programme all over the state. The protest is being staged by every regional unit of the students’ union where the members have staged sit-in-demonstration at public places with essential commodities like LPG cylinders.

The district committees of AASU demanded to control the prices of LPG cylinder and fuel (petrol, diesel) prices.

The students’ body has also criticized the food and civil supplies department and threatened the government that they will give a relevant answer in election.

Earlier, AASU president Dipanko Kumar Nath and general secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah through a release stated that the price hike has harassed the common people.
