Guwahati: National Investigation Agency special court has granted the permission for the jailed MLA akhil Gogoi to attend his oath taking ceremony at Assam Assembly.
Akhil Gogoi will be allowed to take oath amidst tight security, the court said.
Akhil Gogoi won from Sivasagar LAC in Assam in the recently concluded Assembly elections in the state. He defeated BJP candidate Surabhi Rajkonwari by a margin of over 11,000 votes.
The anti-CAA leader Akhil Gogoi has been imprisoned since December 2019 after facing sedition charges and inciting violence during protests against Citizenship Amendment Act in Assam.
