Assam: Akhil Sits In Dharna ‘Again’; Terms One Lakh Job Promise-A ‘Jumla’
Guwahati: Raijor Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi has staged a protest dharna demanding the state government to provide employment to minimum one lakh youths of the state within May 30 this year like the BJP had promised before the elections.
This was the first time that Gogoi who was also a peasant leader and represented Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has sit for a protest dharna after he became the legislator of Sibsagar constituency of Assam.
Gogoi said that chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has to fulfill the promise of providing jobs to five lakh youths in five years of his tenure.
“CM Sarma has repeatedly claimed that his government will provide one lakh jobs by the end of the completion of the first year of his government. But so far not a single appointment has been done. The first year of Sarma’s government will end on May 30 and Raijor Dal will continue to demand for the jobs till there is no appointment,” Gogoi said.
He also alleged that since BJP has come to power in the state, advertisements of recruitment in only 15, 130 jobs were out and not even a single appointment was done yet.
“Advertisements were out, scams were recorded in recruitment and no appointment was done. It seems like the promise of providing one lakh jobs annually is also a ‘jumla’ like others,” added Gogoi.
