    Assam Assembly Election Counting: Himanta leads by huge margin in Jalukbari

    After the fourth round of counting, Himanta Biswa Sarma got 24,947 votes while Congress candidate Romen Borthakur got 9,020 votes.

    Guwahati: Assam health and education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is leading in Jalukbari constituency with a huge margin of 15,000 votes.

    After the fourth round of counting, Himanta Biswa Sarma got 24,947 votes while Congress candidate Romen Borthakur got 9,020 votes.

    Earlier in the day, Borthakur claimed to win against Sarma with a margin of around 90 thousand votes.

    The NEDA convener Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed landslide victory in Jalukbari constituency with a margin of 85,935 votes in 2016 against Congress candidate Niren Deka.

    Sarma has been representing the Jalukbari seat since 2001.
