Guwahati: A team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam caught red-handed the registrar of Bhattadev University at Pathsala in Bajali district while accepting a bribe.
The registrar has been identified as Guru Prasad Khataniar.
Taking to Twitter, special DGP (Law and Order) GP Singh wrote, “Our fight against corruption continues. Today, a team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM caught red-handed Sri Guru Prasad Khataniar, Registrar, Bhattadev University, Pathsala, District – Bajali with accepted bribe money. Further Lawful action is being taken.”
On Wednesday, a hot pursuit by a sleuth of vigilance and anti-corruption of state police in Barak valley’s Cachar district resulted in the arrest of one forest range officer.
The accused official identified as Debabrata Gogoi who was the forest range officer, Lakhipur, was arrested on charges of graft.
He had allegedly demanded money from the complainant for getting the latter’s official work done.
Though the anti-corruption wing initially laid a trap to catch him, Gogoi on seeing the team ran away from his chamber along with bribe money.
