Assam BJP releases manifesto for Panchayat polls

Guwahati, November 21: The Assam state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the party’s manifesto on Wednesday for the upcoming Panchayat elections. The party will also be releasing two songs for campaigning.

The manifesto was released by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and various other leaders of the party at the party headquarters here.

The two songs will be sung by Assamese singer Neel Akash. One song will be in the Assamese language and another song will be in the Adivasi language, informed Dass.

Sonowal said, “We are confident that the people will accept us with open arms. We will form a corruption free Panchayat raj.”

It may be mentioned that the Panchayat polls in Assam will be held in two phases on December 5 and December 9 in 26 districts and 14 civil sub-divisions. The counting will take place on December 12.

A total of 1,56,41,456 voters will exercise their franchise out of which 8,12,38,35 are male and 7,51,76,21 are female voters. A total of 23,505 polling stations will be set up out of which 8243 polling stations have been marked as ‘sensitive’ and 3665 as ‘very sensitive’.
