GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah asked Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to take stern action against the culprits of Tinsukia blast that claimed at least two lives on Friday.
Already, the CM has asked the state police director-general Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to initiate a probe into the matter and bring the culprits to book.
Samra said, “This act of violence is a sign of desperation and cowardice. State government will never tolerate such kind of highhandedness leading to the loss of precious human lives”.
He asked the DGP to direct Range DIG to rush to the site, inquire into the incident and nab the miscreants involved in the incident.
A suspected grenade blast incident was reported from Tingrai bazar area in Tinsukia district on Friday afternoon.
As per eye-witnesses, two motorcycle-borne miscreants threw the grenade in front of a hardware shop owned by a person named Puranmal Agarwal.
One Sandeep Singh (customer) reportedly died in the blast incident and three others received severe injuries. Later another one identified as Surajit Talukdar too reportedly succumbed to his injuries. Two others continued to be critical.
As of now, no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the blast.
