Guwahati, November 23: A major train accident was averted on Thursday morning as the Assam-bound Bengaluru-Tinsukia weekly superfast express’s engine got detached from its coaches and travelled nearly 2 km on its own.
It was after around 5 minutes that the driver realised that the coaches got detached from the boogie when they stopped near Madarihat station in Alipurduar.
The train was reportedly running at around 60kmph.
The train was stopped near a level crossing after being separated from the engine.
The train resumed journey after the engine was re-attached with the bogies around 1.30 pm.
