Assam: Bursting crackers in Guwahati Refinery vicinity banned
Guwahati: The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Diganta Kr Choudhury has issued an order prohibiting the use and bursting of firecrackers in the vicinity of Guwahati Refinery and the old pine lines within Central Police District in Guwahati.
An order from the Deputy Commissioner stated that use of fireworks and bursting of crackers etc may cause inflammation or fire etc as huge quantities of highly volatile and inflammable petroleum products are stored in Guwahati Refinery, Noonmati, Oil India Pumping Station and pumped through the Oil pipe lines passing through Central Police District, Guwahati.
Choudhury under section 144 CrPC has prohibited “use of fireworks and bursting of crackers etc within 500 meters radius from the Guwahati Refinery, Noonmati, Oil India Punping Station, Satgaon and Oil Pipe lines.”
The band has been put due to likelihood of imminent danger to the safety and security of the mentioned installations and residents residing in the vicinity of the Guwahati Refinery and Oil India Pumping station, Satgaon.
“Any person contravening with this order shall be punishable U/S 188 of Indian Penal Code,” the notification mentioned.
