Guwahati: Sleuths of vigilance & anti- corruption on Thursday apprehended one Lat Mandal of Sapekhati Revenue Circle under Charaideo district, identified as Hari Prasad Das, on graft charges.
A complaint was received at this directorate of vigilance & anti- corruption, Assam to the effect that Das had demanded a sum of Rs. 10,000 as bribe from the complainant for mutation of a plot of land measuring 1Katha 3 Lecha located at Borhat Misajan village under Sapekhati Revenue Circle.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the directorate for taking needful legal action against the Lat Mandal.
Accordingly, a trap was laid at Borhat Misajan village under Charaideo district by a team from the vigilance and anti- corruption.
The Lat Mandal came to the village for collecting the bribe amount from the complainant. He was caught red handed at about 2:35 PM immediately after he received bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant. The tainted bribe money was recovered from the possession of Das in the presence of independent witnesses and has been seized by the team.
