On the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has appealed the citizens to cooperate in the Janata curfew on March 22 from 7 AM to 9 PM.
He said that this is very important for tackling novel coronavirus. Sonowal asked the citizens to appeal to their acquaintances also to observe this curfew.
Sonowal tweeted, “We, the people of India, will fight out Coronavirus together, thanks to PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s clarion call on the global pandemic. I urge all to join the Janata Curfew on Sunday, March 22 from 7AM to 9PM & take resolute steps to protect our nation from the dreaded disease.”
The Assam Chief Minister also added, “I also urge all to express our thanks to all those who selflessly working in the frontlines to counter Coronavirus on Sunday at 5 PM.”
Sonowal and Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier appealed to the citizens to not panic and observe precautions.
“We have taken a number of steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus and are fully prepared and capable to deal with the situation,” stressed Sarma while addressing a press meet in Guwahati a few days back.
Sonowal has appealed to the citizens to follow the guidelines issued by the government. Avoid crowded places for some time and maintain social distance. Assam Police has also urged the people of the state to not believe in rumours and check authenticity, maintain caution while sharing news of social media related to coronavirus.
