Guwahati: On the occasion of 72nd Republic Day, Assam CM Sarbananda sonowal presented Republic Day Journalism Award 2021 to veteran journalist Atin Das at celebrations held at Khanapara.
The award carries Rs 1 lakh, a citation, a memorabilia, sarai, anga bastra and a gamocha.
The CM handed over the award to Das, under the aegis of department of information and public relations, in recognition to his long and unstinted service as a journalist.
Atin Das, who was born in December 12, 1947, has long years of journalistic experience starting his career as a journalist in 1962.
He has the distinction of having been associated with ‘Barak’ a weekly, ‘Weekly Jugsankha’, ‘Dainik Jugasankha’, Sangbad Lohori, ‘Malabar Herald’, Dainik Basumati’, ‘Anandabazar Patrika’, ‘Hindustan Standard’ and many more.
Moreover, synchronising with the spirit of the Republic Day celebrations, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday visited Life Line Care Home at Satgaon, Guwahati.
Visiting the Care Home where patients afflicted with Alzheimer and dementia are living as inmates, Chief Minister Sonowal spent his time there, interacted with them and took stock of the medical treatments being rendered to the inmates.
Sonowal also distributed fruits among the inmates. Having taken stock of the facilities of the Care Home, Sonowal assured he would render all possible help to the organisation for the convenience of the inmates.
The minister at the same time paid a visit to Nirmal Bhawan under North East Voluntary Association of Rural Development for the victims of domestic violence which is adjacent to the Care Home.
Considering the conditions of road leading to the Care Home, Sonowal said that his government will take steps for constructing the road.
