Guwahati: Amid the speculations of a cabinet expansion in the state, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday hinted that the cabinet expansion is likely to be carried out after the completion of one year of the present government.
Speaking to the media in this regard, CM Sarma said, “We didn’t think of any cabinet expansion as of now. A team has been working on this. I believe, after completion of one year in office, we can think about this.”
It may be mentioned that Himanta Biswa Sarma, the face of the BJP in Northeast India, was sworn in as the 15th chief minister of the state on May 9, 2021.
Also speaking about the present state cabinet, CM Sarma also mentioned that the Guwahati Development Minister Ashok Singhal has already taken up a major water supply project in hand to curb the drinking water crisis in Guwahati city.
