Assam: CM inaugurates Dibrugarh-Tinsukia bypass

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday inaugurated the Dibrugarh-Tinsukia bypass.

The newly constructed 15.446 kilometer bypass which is of worth Rs 96.84 crore will connect Lapetka to Mohanbari in Dibrugarh district of Assam.

 The new bypass will not only decrease the traffic in Dibrugarh town but will also improve connectivity in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said that the present Narendra Modi led Central Government after assuming power in 2014 took the initiatives of bringing about revolutionary changes in connectivity of the country especially in the Northeast though championing the cause of ‘Transformation through Transportation’.

He also attributed AIIMS at Changsari, Indian Agricultural Research Centre at Gogamukh, Indian Institute of Design at Jorhat, Multi-modal Logistic Hub at Jogighopa to the goodwill and sincerity of the Central Government. He also said that people of Assam had to resort to agitation for a single bridge over the Brahmaputra.

Stating that the construction of Dibrugarh Bypass will help in beautification, development of the historic Dibrugarh town, Sonowal thanked all functionaries associated with NHIDCL for completing the bypass. He at the same time asked NHIDCL to complete all ongoing projects of the state within the stipulated time frame.
