Guwahati: In a bid to promote the business potential of the farmers as well as entrepreneurs associated with agarwood plantation and trade in the state, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of Assam Agar International Trade Centre at Dabidubi in Golaghat district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal expressed his sense of gratitude to the people of the State for their cooperation that they have extended to the government and said that the Assam Agar International Trade Centre would be a step towards making a self reliant Assam.
Giving a snapshot of the sequel of steps that the state government has been taking to bring about industrial development in the state, Sonowal said that immediately after coming to power his government organized Global Investors Summit to catapult the industrial growth of the state.
He also said that the Investors Summit witnessed signing of as many as 240 MoUs with the commitment of 79 thousand crore investment in the state. Sonowal however announced that after the summit more than 40 thousand crore investment have already been grounded to unleash a remarkable industrial growth narrative of the state.
Meanwhile, the chief minister also performed Bhumi Puja to mark the inauguration of setting up of LPG cylinders bottling and storage facilities at Dabidubi on Wednesday.
With bottling capacity of 12,500 LPG cylinders per day and storage capacity of 24,000 MT, the facility is expected to go a long way in catering to LPG demands of the region, while also decongesting refinery post expansion.
The plant which is expected to be completed in three years would give direct and indirect employment to several hundred youths of the state.
Chief Minister Sonowal while taking a look at the project, hailed the NRL functionaries for taking initiatives in setting up the project. He also asked them to complete the project within the stipulated time frame so that people in general can reap the benefits of the expansion plan of the NRL.
