Guwahati: In a recent development, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday has ordered a CID probe into the death case of journalist Parag Bhuyan.
Parag Bhuyan, who was a journalist of a private media house, was killed in a suspected hit-and-run case on Wednesday night near his residence at Kakopathar in Tinsukia.
Bhuyan succumbed to death a day later while undergoing treatment.
Following the order of a high level probe into the case, Tinsukia police on Thursday seized the vehicle by which Bhuyan was hit and also arrested two accused in connection with the case.
The death of the senior journalist has erupted protests all over the state. People took to the streets demanding justice for Bhuyan.
The chief minister office tweeted regarding the order of direct CID probe into the death of Parag Bhuyan. The tweet read: “Taking note of various allegations regarding the death of senior journalist Parag Bhuyan, CM Shri @sarbanandsonowal has directed a CID inquiry into the matter. @AssamCid”
Earlier, Assam ADGP GP Singh also informed about the CID probe via Twitter. He wrote: “The investigation has been transferred to CID. A team consisting of SSP CID and forensic experts from State Forensic Science Laboratory has been sent from Guwahati. The technical support unit has also been put at work. Hopefully, we would ascertain the facts at the earliest.”
