Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday has asked everyone in the state having social media account to change their profile picture or display picture (DP) to tricolor in honour of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark India’s 75th Independence Day.

He said that he would too change his ‘profile picture’ to an image of tricolor from August 2.  “Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi will change his profile picture. I would also urge everyone to do so to commemorate the historic event. We will also keep our flags flying high virtually via changing our profile picture.”

On Monday, Sarma also chaired a review meeting with the deputy commissioners of the state’s districts at Assam Administrative Staff College auditorium here.

Speaking on the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, aimed at ensuring the national flag is hoisted on display at every household in the country between coming August 13 to August 15, he issued broad directives to the deputy commissioners to ensure maximum participation of people in their respective districts.”

He also asked the deputy commissioners to go on a massive publicity campaign, highlighting the relaxation of flag codes, among others, in the run-up to the platinum jubilee celebrations of India’s Independence.
