    Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal conquers Majuli LAC for 2nd consecutive term

    Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal won the Majuli LAC by a margin of 42,571 votes over Congress candidate Rajib Lochan Pegu

    Guwahati: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal won the Majuli LAC for the second consecutive term by a margin of 42,571 votes over Congress candidate Rajib Lochan Pegu.

    As per the Election Commission of India (ECI) report, BJP candidate Sarbananda Sonowal has got 70,618 votes whereas, Congress candidate Rajib Lochan Pegu has got 28,047 votes.

    On the other hand, Asom Jatiya Parishad candidate Sishudhar Doley has got 3,201 votes, Communist Party’s Bhaity Richong has got 1,084 votes, Independent candidate Purna Pegu has got 694 votes and Nota 1,070 votes.

    Meanwhile, expressing his gratitude to the people of Majuli LAC, CM Sonowal said, “Thank you Majuli. I express my deepest gratitude to the wonderful people of the sacred river island. Your blessings have once again given me the strength to carry forward my duty of serving Assam.”
