Assam: CM Sarbananda Sonowal takes first shot of COVID-19 vaccine
Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal took his first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday.
After receiving the vaccine, Sonowal urged all eligible persons of the state to get vaccinated and continue following safety precautions.
He said vaccines are safe and it will help in defeating the pandemic.
“Took my first shot of #COVID19 vaccine at GMCH. Vaccines are safe and will help us defeat this pandemic. I urge all eligible persons of the state to get vaccinated and continue following safety precautions,” Sonowal tweeted.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS Delhi today.
Taking to Twitter he wrote: “Got my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine t AIIMS today. Vaccination is among the few ways we have, to defeat the virus. If you are eligible for the vaccine, get your shot soon.”
Notably, the active cases of COVID-19 post the Assam Assembly Election have witnessed a massive surge since April 7.
