Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday dialed his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackrey requesting him to ensure safety and security of senior journalist Arnab Goswami.
The development came after family members of Goswami approached CM Sonowal intimating that there is not enough security provided to him.
The chief minister took Twitter to announce the information. He wrote: “Talked to Maharashtra CM Shri Uddhav Thackeray ji and requested him for adequate security arrangements for renowned journalist Arnab Goswami. I talked to him as Mr. Goswami’s family members approached me and intimated that there is not enough security provided to him.”
The Republic Editor-in-Chief was arrested by Mumbai Police on November 4 in abetment of an old suicide case.
Meanwhile, Goswami has moved to the Supreme Court after the Bombay High Court rejected his interim bail plea.
