Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday has thanked Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and director Rohit Shetty for their contribution of Rs 5 lakhs to the CM Relief Fund for the flood-affected people in the state.
Taking to the Twitter, Sarma wrote, “Bollywood actor Shri Arjun Kapoor and director Shri Rohit Shetty stood by the flood-affected people of Assam with their contribution of Rs 5 lakh to CM Relief Fund. I thank them for their concern and act of generosity.”

Atleast four people died in the last 24 hours in Assam due to the flood. Over 11 lakh people in 25 districts have been affected by the floods with the newly formed Bajali district being the worst hit.
On Friday morning, about 19782.80 hectares of cropland were inundated under floodwater while water levels in the Manas, Pagladiya, Puthimari, Kopili, Gaurang, and Brahmaputra rivers were above danger levels.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) on Friday warned of heavy rainfall over Guwahati in next six hours.
According to official, Guwahati city is also very likely to see thunderstorms with light to moderate rain (1/2 cm/hr) over the next six hours.
Assam capital Guwahati has been wracked by heavy rains since June 13, resulting in knee-deep water logging on all major roadways. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has issued a ‘red alert’ for Assam.
