Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will attend the state dinner hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind in honour of the US President Donald Trump on February 25th, 2020. Sonowal is among eight chief ministers invited for the exclusive banquet at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Trump is in India on a two-day visit. This is his first travel to India and also a first standalone visit by a US President to India. Trump is accompanied by his wife US First Lady Menalia Trump, daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner and top brass of his administration.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre is leaving no stone unturned to make the entire affair glitzy, glamorous and pompous.

The banquet would last for approximately 90 minutes, as President Trump is scheduled to leave for the US at 10 pm.

An elaborate fusion menu has been crafted by the Rashtrapati Bhavan in-house chefs for the banquet. Indian food with American spices will be served at the dinner. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are part of the spread.

Atlantic Salmon will be cooked and served as fish tikkas and sprinkled with Cajun spice, the US version of garam masala. Raan ali-shan is also part of the menu as President Trump is known for his love for meatloaf, steak with ketchup.

Rogan josh gravy and grilled meat will also be available. Raisina Dal – Rashtrapati Bhavan kitchen’s signature dish will also be served.

Aloo tikki with palak papdi, amuse-bouche, Lemon coriander shorba, dum guchi matar will be served. Dum gosht biryani for non-vegetarians and vegetarian deg ki biryani are part of the menu. Malpua with rabri, vanilla ice cream with salty caramel sauce and hazelnut apple pie will be served for dessert.

The guest list consists of 100 people and it includes POTUS’ entourage and 88-88 people from the Indian side.

President Ram Nath Kovind will receive the US President outside the Durbar Hall. They will sit in the North Drawing Room for talks before the dinner begins at the Ashoka Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
