Guwahati: Two infants, one aged just 4 months and another one year, died of severe cold in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
The incident occurred in Moran Town in the district. According to sources, one infant died on January 13 and another died on January 17.
The 4-month-old infant, the second son of Sunny and Rajmoni Dhanwar, passed away while asleep. The child had previously undergone immunisations at the clinic and was sent home with no significant effects.
It is suspected that the infant’s demise caused due to poor living conditions, including holes in roofs and inadequate walls.
Meanwhile, the other one-year-old infant also passed away as a result of the extreme cold in Moran.
However, last week, the temperatures have been less than 10 degree C in Dibrugarh.
