Guwahati: South Karimganj MLA and a former minister in Assam, Siddeque Ahmed had tested positive for the COVID-19 on Thursday.
Ahmed was admitted to Green Heals hospital on Wednesday as he had breathing difficulties and was suffering from chest congestion.
After he tested positive for COVID-19, he has been shifted to the Covid ward.
Taking to twitter the MLA requested everyone who came in contact with him from the last five-six days to isolate and get them tested.
The MLA had cardiac complications and has been suffering from diabetes and hypertension for more than a decade.
Siddeque Ahmed was first elected as a member of the legislative assembly in 2001 and the congressman served as a minister in Tarun Gogoi’s cabinet. In 2021, he defeated AGP’s Aziz Khan to become the MLA for one more term.
