A cop in Assam won hearts of many on social media for his spirit and kind gesture after he was seen distributing pens to the Higher Secondary(HS) students appearing for their examinations which is underway since February 12th, 2020.
The incident took place in Upper Assam’s Sivasagar district. A video has gone viral on the internet where the police personnel identified as Ratul Gogoi is seen standing with a box of pens and distributing it to the examinees.
The Assam Police, on their official Twitter handle, saluted the cop’s spirit and his “good luck gesture”. “A good luck gesture of its own kind! Heartening to see the Shri Ratul Gogoi from 1st AP Bn distributing Pens to students appearing for the AHSEC Class 12 examination. More power to the might of the pen and the young policeman’s spirit. Kudos!” they wrote.

Congratulating the selfless spirit of the cop, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta announced to felicitate him with a cash award of Rs 10,000.
“Ratul Gogoi’s kind gesture has made all of us proud and will surely inspire others. It embodies the selfless spirit of service embraced by the Assam Police. To honor his act of kindness, we’ve decided to felicitate him with a cash award of Rs 10,000.” Mahanta said.

It may be mentioned that the HS exams are underway at 772 centres and 20 additional venues across Assam. Altogether 1,175,175 students in Arts stream, 40,588 in Science stream and 18,178 in Commerce stream are appearing for the Class 12 Board examinations.
To conduct the examinations smoothly and check any sort of malpractice, three-layered security arrangements have been put into place by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) including CCTV cameras, jammers and a full-fledged cyber cell.
