As you party to ring in the New Year, make sure you do that responsibly. Assam Police is encouraging people to celebrate New Year’s Eve responsibly tonight.
On every New Year’s eve, the police face a tough task checking flouters and avoiding road-accidents due to drunk driving. The police and district administration has time and again urged the partygoers to not drink and drive.
Dibrugarh Police taking to micro-blogging site Twitter wrote that it doesn’t want to “play host” to the law violators and asked all the citizens to drink, drive responsibly.

Udalguri Police too appealed citizens to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.
“Policemen will be on the bandobast duty across the state during the New Year celebrations to provide safety and security to citizens to avoid any untoward incidents,” an official said.

Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Munna Prasad Gupta has also appealed the city folks to follow guidelines to enjoy the celebrations hassle-free.
In Guwahati, special flying squads to check drunken-driving, peddling of drugs and other untoward activities on the New Year’s eve in the city.
The Guwahati deputy commissioners of police and traffic department have been directed to keep a tab on the two-wheelers on the city roads as well as the highways. The traffic personnel have been asked to keep a close eye on the rules violators, especially the motorists.
Special drives will be launched against gambling, rave parties and consumption and peddling of drugs in and around the state. The Excise department sleuths will monitor the wine shops and bars.
