Guwahati: Amid the Covid-19 crisis in the entire nation, the state of Assam as on Sunday witnessed a spike in positivity rate from 3.24% to 5.48% in just 24 hours.
Although the latest Covid-19 figures in Assam show a declining trend, however, rise in positivity rates still seems to be very alarming.

Informing about the latest Covid-19 figures, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to twitter saying, “Today’s Total 1844. Overall Positivity Percentage (1844 cases out of 33674 test done = 5.48%). Kamrup(M) 791. Death due to COVID – 19.”

It is noteworthy to mention that daily cases in the state dropped below 400 as testing declines to almost half.
Till last Saturday, the state reported around 2236 cases out of 69094 tests, with a positivity rate of 3.24%. However, on Sunday, out of 33674 test, the state recorded around 1844 cases.

It may further be mentioned that earlier on Friday, Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) Superintendent Abhijit Sarma told the media “though the positivity rate has increased in the state, it’s still manageable up to 5%.”
