Guwahati: A body of a man was found in Assam’s Darrang district on Sunday night.

According to sources, the body was found in the Mangaldoi area near National Highway No. 15 in Pipara Dokan.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjan, a resident of Bezpara.

As per sources, after receiving the information police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

However, the body has been sent for post-mortem in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the police have detained one person, who was with him, for questioning.

Further investigation is underway.

On Sunday too, the body of a man was found floating in the Brahmaputra River in Kamrup district. The body was found at Kalitapara in Dakhala Colony area.

The identity of the body was yet to be ascertained.

On Saturday, the body of an unidentified person was found under Saraighat bridge in North Guwahati. 

The Jalukbari police arrived at the scene and recovered the body for post mortem. It is suspected that the man was pushed off a moving train from atop the bridge, sources said. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
