Guwahati: The Darrang district administration of Assam on Wednesday announced to remain close all educational institutes till June 25.

The decision was made as flooding caused by nonstop rain over the past week wreaked havoc in various areas of the state.

All educational institutions, both privately or government will be closed from Thursday till Saturday, the district administration stated.

Meanwhile, any exams that are scheduled to be held during these times will, however, proceed as planned, official added.

On Tuesday, the floods caused by heavy rains and rupture of the embankments of Saktola and Nonoi rivers in the district continued to wreak havoc in various parts.

Around 459 villages in Dalgaon, Mangaldai, Patharighat and Sipajhar Revenue Circles of the district have been affected by the flood on Monday.
