Guwahati: In a breakthrough, an Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) team on Monday seized around 1100 Arunachal-made IMFL cases from a truck while it was on its way to Durgapur (West Bengal) from Dibrugarh in Assam.
The team seized a 10 wheeler truck which carried the Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at Society Chowk in Rangia. The liquor was being transported without any valid permit.
The consignment papers available & produced by the truck driver indicated that the consignment was for transporting PP Granules (14000 kg) worth Rs 5, 60,000.
“The consignment was loaded at M/S G&P Plastics, Borsaikia Gaon, Maijan Road in Assam’s Dibrugarh and was supposed to get delivered at Polycon Industries in Durgapur in West Bengal,” informed Subash Baishya, who led the EIB team.
Arunachal-made He further added that “the transport service of the above consignment was carried out by M/S New Barik Transport Service Transporter from Kalain in Cachar.”
The truck driver identified as Qasim has been apprehended and was handed over to inspector in charge of Rangia, Dilip Kalita, for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Assam Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya expressing his concern asked the department to probe into the matter and book all the culprits at the earliest.
