Guwahati: An elderly couple was found dead in their house in Assam’s Udalguri district on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Barjhar village in Tiya Pukhuri under Kalaigaon police station.
The deceased has been identified as Balram Bodo, 60, and his wife Santana Bodo.
According to sources, the couple was found in a hanging state.
Upon receiving the information, police reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
According to the locals, the deceased couples living conditions were very poor.
The police suspect it to be a case of suicide over a poverty situation.
Additionally, the husband is suspected to have strangled the wife before he hanged himself, according to the police.
