    Assam: FIR against Silchar teacher for ‘objectionable’ post on Modi

    The accused, Tamojit Saha, teaches Bengali at Ramanuj Gupta Junior College, is a resident of the Public School Road in Silchar town.

    Guwahati: An FIR against a teacher hailing from Silchar in Assam’s Cachar distirct, has been lodged for an ‘objectionable’ post on Prime Minister Narendra  Modi.

    The accused, Tamojit Saha, teaches Bengali at Ramanuj Gupta Junior College, is a resident of the Public School Road in Silchar teacher town.

    According to the complainant Snehangshu Bhattacharjee, who is the president of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad (ABVP), the accused has been ‘spreading disrespect and hate’ against the PM and the Harayana Politicians on social media.

    Bhattacharjee alleged that the accused has posted a picture on social media which contained the image of PM Modi and the Haryana leaders with garlands of shoes around them. He further urged police to take strict action against Saha.

    A case under the sections 294 (obscene acts, songs) and 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 was registered and a probe has also been initiated.
