Over 54 lakh people in 34 districts of Assam have been reeling under flood with over 100 casualties.

Guwahati: Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi hitting out Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the PM must visit flood-hit Assam instead of toppling the Maharashtra government.

Over 54 lakh people in 34 districts of Assam have been reeling under flood with over 100 casualties.

Gogoi said, “BJP is only hungry of power. They have even forgotten their promises made to the people of Assam before coming to power. The PM should visit the state and announce special package, but he’s busy toppling Maharashtra government besides Gujarat elections.”

He added, “While floods in Assam make people suffer the diversion of government resources towards guarding Maharashtra MLAs is heartless and cold-blooded. Until the BJP is ousted, Indian people will continue to be a casualty.”

Assam has now became an epicenter of Maharastra politics where around 49 rebel MLAs lead by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde have been residing in a luxury hotel in Guwahati.

However, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed about his ignorance about the purpose of their visits.

“At this hours of crisis when the state needs help, we welcome more guests to visit Assam so that state can earn revenue from their stay in luxury hotels,” Sarma said.
