    Assam Flood Death Toll Rises to 24; Situation Grims

    The Brahmaputra River has been flowing above the danger line in Jorhat, Sonitpur, Guwahati, Goalpara and Dhubri districts

    Guwahati: The death toll in Assam flood jumped to 24 with four people reportedly drowned on Monday. So far flood has affected 72 villages in 25 districts of Assam and impacted the lives of over 13, 16, 927 people so far.

    According to the daily flood report, one person each drowned in Barpeta and Goalpara districts while two died in Dibrugarh district.

    There were 24, 452 people have been rendered homeless and taking shelter in 273 relief camps.

    On Monday, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal while reviewing the flood situation in the state has ordered the flood affected district administrations to supply all essentials and health services to the inmates of the relief camps.

    Over 10,000 people were evacuated by National and State Disaster Response Force sleuths.

    The report added that the Brahmaputra River has been flowing above the danger line in Jorhat, Tezpur, Guwahati, Goalpara and Dhubri districts.
