Guwahati: The toll due to floods and landslides in Assam rose to 180 after five person died in the state on Sunday.

Assam’s flood situation improved as the number of affected people declined to over 18.35 lakh from the previous day’s 22.17 lakh, an official bulletin said.

Over 18,35,500 people are still affected due to the flood across 23 districts, it added.

The five persons drowned at various places in Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Nagaon and Sivasagar districts during the day, said official.

The deluge has damaged crops over 47198.87 hectares.

Currently, 2,78,060 persons are living in 413 relief camps across Assam.
