Assam Floods: Dima Hasao Admin issues closure notice for all educational institutions
ASDMA deployed nodal officers with the satellite phones for sharing of information from the disaster site to test emergency communication

Guwahati: The district disaster management authority (DDMA) issued a closure notice for all educational institutions in the entire Dima Hasao district with immediate effect.

The order shall come into force from May 17, 2022.

In a notification, the office of the Deputy Commissioner Dima Hasao said, “Due to incessant rainfall in Dima Hasao District which has caused severe landslides in different parts of the district, disturbing lives and properties of the people, and in exercising the power conferred upon me by section 34 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, I Nazreen Ahmed, DC and chairman, district disaster management authority, Dima Hasao District do hereby order the closure of all educational institutions from May 17 until further orders.

As per the Assam state disaster management authority (ASDMA), at least 403352 remained flood-affected till Tuesday evening while 39558 including 3749 children continued taking shelter in 178 relief camps set up in the state.
