Guwahati: Bollywood’s popular singer Sonu Nigam contributed Rs. 5 lakh to chief minister’s (CM) relief fund as assistance to flood relief and rehabilitation measures on Tuesday.

With over 80 persons killed already, Assam has been witnessing one of the most devastating flood situations this year with excess rainfall occurring all over the region.

Informing it, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “Empathising with the flood-affected people of Assam, renowned singer Shri Sonu Nigam contributed ₹5 lakh to CM Relief Fund as assistance to our relief and rehabilitation measures. My deep gratitude to him for his concern and act of benevolence.”

Earlier, T-Series MD Bhushan Kumar also donated Rs 11 Lakh to the CM’s fund while Bollywwod actor Arjun Kapoor and Director Rohit Shetty contributed Rs 5 lakh.
