Assam: Former BJP MLA Aminul Haque’s family attacked

Guwahati: Former deputy speaker of Assam and incumbent Sonai MLA, Aminul Haque Laskar alleged that his sister’s residence was attacked by mob on Wednesday.

His family said that around 25 miscreants used petrol bomb and tried to set house ablaze, but fled before police reached the spot.

It was also alleged that miscreants belonging to AIUDF pelted bricks and stones inside the house and caused heavy damage.

As per reports, police forces from Rangiekhari Police Out Post reached the spot and after prma facie investigation arrested three persons.

However, Laskar expressed his dissatisfaction over the Police handling the entire chain of events.

It is also to be mentioned here that in the recent concluded Assambly Election, Aminul Haque Laskar (BJP) lost against Karim Uddin Barbhuiya (AIUDF) by a wide margin of 19,694 votes.

Earlier on the polling day at Dhonehori, fire was opened leaving four injured. Contesting candidates from BJP, Aminul Haque Laskar was kept hostage inside the polling station for more than two hours as police calmly negotiated the irked mob and rescued him unharmed.

The locals alleged that Aminul Laskar has himself opened fire on the voters with a nine mm pistol in his possession. The pistol was later handed over to the police by locals which they have alleged that they found from the polling station itself where Laskar was seating for more than two hours.
