Assam Gangrape, Murder Accused Tried to Flee; Police Open Fire
Guwahati: An accused in the rape and murder of two minor girls in Assam’s Kokrajhar district was shot at and injured by the cops while trying to flee.
The accused, Forizul Rahman, tried to escape during a search operation near Bedlangmari, Salbari and the police had to open fire to prevent him from escaping. He’s grievously injured and hospitalized.
Sources said he was admitted to Fakruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) in Barpeta.

Police had arrested seven people for their involvement in the rape and murder of two teenage tribal girls in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
Police claimed that three amongst the accused have admitted of the crime.
The victims, two minor girls, aged 14 and 16, were found hanging from a tree in a village under the Kokrajhar police station on June 11. Later, police confirmed that they were raped and killed.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma too paid a visit to the victim’s family on Sunday and assured of speedy investigation.
