    Assam: Government to provide incentive of Rs 100 to school-going girl child

    The state government is currently distributing 22,000 two-wheelers to class 12 girl students who passed in the first division from the state board

    Guwahati: Ahead of the Assam Assembly polls, the state government has planned to give financial incentives to girls so that they attend their classes on a daily basis. In a bid to promote education of the girl child, state education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that every school-going girl child student will get Rs 100 per day for attending classes.

    Attending a felicitation ceremony at Sivasagar, the minister also said that an amount of Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 will be deposited to the bank accounts of undergraduate and postgraduate students respectively by January end to help them buy books and other study material.

    The state government is currently distributing 22,000 two-wheelers to class 12 girl students who passed in the first division from the state board under the Pragyan Bharti Scheme.

    The government will incur an expenditure of Rs 144.30 crore for the purpose.
