Assam Government To Purify Land Records Soon

The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on July 12th, 2019, directed the State’s Revenue Department to initiate a pilot project for ‘purification’ of land records.

In a bid to eradicate the land disputes and other related issues, the revenue department has also been directed to provide separate pattas to each pattadar of the villages, a press note stated.

After attending a meeting with the Revenue Department officials, CM Sonowal said, “The government will also take initiative in linking Aadhar card with land documents.”

Sonowal also directed to conduct land assessment of the villages, where the land assessment was not done earlier, soon.

The CM has also directed the concerned officials to take stringent actions against the officials accused in providing pattas and other land-related issues.

Sonowal also directed the department to review the land taxes which has not been reviewed since 1960. He also directed the concerned officials to frame and publish new policies for transfer of the Lat Mandal. “The revenue department employees will be trained for skill development,” Sonowal said.
